Curriculum-based digital scrapbooks can best be thought of as photo journals, where students must use reading, writing, and critical thinking skills—while allowing creativity and individuality to shine. In addition, students learn valuable technology skills related to digital photography, photo editing, image scanning, and layout and design.

Building digital scrapbooks promotes visual literacy. Digital scrapbooks can be printed, posted to the Internet, burned to a CD or DVD, or emailed to friends and relatives.
