General Bio:

Tammy is the Instructional Technology Specialist at ESSDACK. She has more than twenty years of educational experience. Tammy was a classroom teacher at various levels from kindergarten to 8th grade, and she also served as the technology director for her K–8 school. For the past eight years, Tammy has worked for an educational service center (ESSDACK), providing staff development and training in the area of technology integration.

Tammy is often a featured or keynote speaker at technology conferences around the country.

General Bio:

After more than four decades as an educator, Patsy is a knowledge architect and technology consultant providing professional development, technology planning, and technology assessment for schools and districts nationally and internationally. She has taught at the University of Houston at Clear Lake and served as the Coordinator of Secondary Instructional Technology in Houston, Texas.

Patsy received four Computer World-Smithsonian Laureate awards for innovative practices in education, was selected as the first Technology Coordinator of the Year award for the state of Texas, and chosen as an Apple Distinguished Educator.

Earning two degrees from the University of North Texas (B.S. and M. Ed.), Karen Ferrell has taught for twenty-nine years as a high school geometry teacher, middle school math and computer literacy teacher, and Instructional Technology Coordinator for Northwest ISD. Her technology integration ideas have been enthusiastically received at conferences for mathematics, technology, social studies, and curriculum. In 2005-2006, she won the prestigious “Outstanding Instructor of Adult and Community Education” award for the state of Texas.

General Bio:

A native of the Pacific Northwest, Ms. Crowder now lives and writes in the foothills of Colorado’s Rocky Mountains. She has been involved in K-12 arts education in a variety of forms: as a district arts coordinator and specialist in the public school system and as an art teacher and program coordinator for non-profits, enrichment programs and community arts organizations.

She is currently pursuing an MFA in Writing to complement her BA in Fine Arts. A writer, ceramist, painter and sculptor, Melanie aspires to be a lifelong student and teacher. She has witnessed first-hand how the arts can be a means of empowerment and inspiration for growing children and is proud to be a part of making such a dynamic educational tool accessible to teachers everywhere.

Janet Corder and Joan Gore worked for school districts with very different demographics and easily relate to an audience with a wide range of needs. Both presenters were classroom teachers assigned to integrate technology at the campus level and then worked at the district level.

They have been selected in the Top Twenty at NECC for the past several years for their workshops on professional development. Traveling and presenting throughout the United States has broadened their perspective of the needs of educators. Plus they like to have fun!

After graduating with a B.S. in Biology from the University of Texas at Arlington, Jim taught junior high science and industrial technology. He now serves the Arlington ISD as an instructional technology specialist. He holds a M.S. degree in Computer Education and Cognitive Systems from the University of North Texas.

Susan graduated from Georgia Southern University with a BS in Education. Like Jim, she taught in Arlington at the junior high level. She joined the instructional technology staff of Arlington ISD in 2001 and continues to serve AISD employees with technology integration needs. She teaches several classes including Photoshop, Photo Editing, GPS in Education, Google Earth, and others.

Gaby has a B.A. in Elementary Education and a B.A. in German from the University of Texas at Arlington. She taught kindergarten in Dallas, Texas and fourth grade for ten years in Arlington, Texas before joining the Arlington ISD Instructional Technology Department in 1996 as an Instructional Technology Specialist. She received her Master of Education from the University of North Texas.

She earned an M.A.T. in Teaching, an M.B.A., and a B.B.A. with an emphasis in Finance from Texas Woman’s University. Charlotte has presented at Texas Computer Educator’s Association and the Texas Business and Marketing Educator’s State Conventions.
